Dmitry Khomitsevich - honoring the champions. It’s impossible to topple the “Russian Bears”: Ural resident Dmitry Khomitsevich became a seven-time world champion in motorcycle ice racing How they “cut it”

On November 27, 2016, the annual gala ceremony honoring motorsport champions, the FIM Gala, takes place in Berlin, where the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) traditionally awards the most outstanding athletes of the year.

Russia is represented by the 2016 world champion in motorcycle ice racing, a graduate of the motorsports school in Kamensk-Uralsky, Sverdlovsk region - Dmitry Khomitsevich.

- For 5 years I tried to become a world champion and finally I succeeded. I am very happy! - Dmitry said in his interview at a press conference.

Let us remind you that Dmitry Khomitsevich is a Russian racer who competes in motorcycle racing on ice. Master of Sports of Russia of international class, since 2003 he began to engage in motorcycle racing on ice together with his older brother, the famous motorcycle racer Vitaly Khomitsevich. Young Dmitry Khomitsevich trained with his experienced brother and helped him as a mechanic. As a result, already in the next season of 2004, the young racer achieved significant results: he became fourth in the personal Russian championship, second in the Russian Cup and at the European Championship. In 2005 he made his debut in the Individual World Championship, finishing ninth.

In 2006, he missed international competitions because he took part in domestic competitions.

In 2007, he returned to the international arena, becoming the European champion, and in 2008, the vice-world champion, losing only to multiple champion Nikolai Krasnikov. He is one of the most successful motorcycle racers on ice in recent times, finishing on the podium of the personal world championship 7 times over the last nine (2008-2016) years. As a member of the Russian national team, he won the World Team Championship five times (2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016).

In the Russian Team Championship, he initially played for the Yunost team (also SUAL-TNK-SKA PUrVO) and twice became the silver medalist of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic: in 2005 and 2007. In 2008, together with his older brother Vitaly, as well as with brothers Daniil and Ivan Ivanov, he moved to the newly created Togliatti Mega-Lada, with which he won the major league in 2008, and in 2010-2013. - and the Super League, after which he played for clubs from Samara (2014) and Blagoveshchensk (2015) for one year each. In 2016 - as part of the CSKA club (Moscow). In 2011 he won the Russian personal championship.

In 2016, he made his debut in the Swedish Championship as part of the Stromsunds MC club.
In 2016, he won the title of world champion in the individual competition for the first time.

He also took part in the classic speedway, becoming 15th in the LCHRYU and 4th in the KCHRYU as part of “Vostok” (Vladivostok) in 2006.

The final symbolic photo from the Gala ceremony looks like an example for politicians:

As we have already reported, our fellow countryman Dmitry Khomitsevich became the national champion in motorcycle ice racing. True, as part of a team from Togliatti. But this does not detract from our joy. That’s why we decided to give this interview, which was conducted by our Volga colleagues. It is interesting that the conversation took place over the phone, because Dmitry was already in his native Kamensk.

No brakes

- How do you feel after your first victory at the Russian Championship?

I realized that I was a champion only after finishing the final race. But he didn’t celebrate on the track: he made a circle around the stadium on his back wheel and greeted the fans. I truly felt the joy of victory only in the indoor park: there I was actually carried in the arms of my teammates, mechanics, and fans who came from Togliatti and Kamensk-Uralsky.

- Did you practice driving on the rear wheel on purpose?

No. This is the result of many years of training. During training I wanted to ride on the rear wheel - so I went.

- Is it weak on the front?

But as? Our motorcycles have no brakes at all. How can you get on the front wheel without them?

- Is your victory logical?

I went to her for many years. The closest I got was a year ago, when two points separated me from Russian champion Nikolai Krasnikov. This time everything was in my hands: before the last series of races, victory was guaranteed only by winning the race. I won by order.

With brother - no offense

- Elder brother Vitaly, who became fourth, is not offended that you overtook him?

He was the first to congratulate me. And my first teacher in motorsports was my father. But he didn’t race on ice. I became interested in ice speedway (before that I only raced in the summer) eight years ago, following Vitaly, who in 2001 made it to the world championship for the first time. I started training at home: my brother and I cleared snow with shovels in frozen swamps and did laps. Then Vitaly took me to Blagoveshchensk, where at first I helped him as a mechanic. And for the first time I seriously declared myself in 2004 - at the Russian Championship I was one point short of bronze. But the trip to the World Championships, which was due to me for a successful performance, fell through: the 18-year-old boy was then told: he’s still young, give way to an older comrade. And they sent me to the European Championships. I'm not proud, I went and became second.

Vitaly Khomitsevich missed one point at the Russian Championship and did not qualify for the World Team Championship. Did you want to team up with your brother and play against Daniil Ivanov?

In the Russian personal championship races, it’s every man for himself. Vitaly did not score a single point in one of the races of the first day. This was not enough to get into the prize-winners. On the second day, a unique situation arose: my brother, Krasnikov and I were riding in the same race. If I had given Vitaly a point, I would not have become the champion of Russia. If he had overtaken Krasnikov, he would not have become second. Therefore, no one let anyone through - everything was fair. But at the same time they drove very carefully. Pushing your opponent closer to the bales, forcing him to slow down, is one thing. But never nag your brother.

Duel with Krasnikov

- Was it important for you to beat Krasnikov?

It’s always nice to beat a leader like Krasnikov in Russian and world ice speedway. That's why every rider wants to go around him. But at the championship I fought not only with Krasnikov: each of the 16 riders was a danger. It is no coincidence that the Russian Championship is considered cooler than the World Championship.

- Do you still have a feeling of dissatisfaction from the defeat in the head-to-head duel with Krasnikov?

Of course, I wanted to win all 15 of my races, including against Krasnikov. On the first day I led two laps. But then I made a mistake, and Nikolai immediately drove around me. During the debriefing, the coach showed me that it was possible to push the opponent closer to the bales, not allowing him to overtake himself. In the second duel, Krasnikov very carefully (which means experience) drove into my elbow at the turn. After that, he was the first to exit the turn and maintained the lead until the finish.

- Was the wrestling on the track within the rules?

Krasnikov carefully moved me towards the protective bales and the edge of the path. The judge qualified this maneuver as “close entry into a turn,” but within the rules. In general, at the championship there were a lot of falls, injuries, derailments, accidents, and collisions with each other. Young racers, trying to get to the world championship, crashed into each other.

- How did they “saw” it?

In the heat of the fight, they ran over the opponent’s leg with studded motorcycle wheels. I tried to leave, to get away from such hot guys.

When asked who he considers himself to be - a resident of Tolyatti or Kamensk-Uralsky, your fellow countryman Daniil Ivanov replied that “Tolyatti has already become native to him”...

I continue to consider myself a resident of Kamensk-Uralsky, although I have been playing for Tolyatti for several seasons. And as the season progresses, I go home as soon as possible. A little more than a thousand kilometers between our cities is not a distance in this case. In 20 hours, my brother and I fly through them easily and naturally.

Notes

Excerpt characterizing Khomitsevich, Dmitry Valerievich

“So it was not in vain that I waited for this meeting,
My beloved star...

Mom was completely captivated by dad's poems... And he wrote them to her a lot and brought them to her work every day along with huge posters drawn by his own hand (dad was a great drawer), which he unrolled right on her desktop, and on which , among all kinds of painted flowers, it was written in large letters: “Annushka, my star, I love you!” Naturally, what woman could withstand this for a long time and not give up?.. They never parted again... Using every free minute to spend it together, as if someone could take it away from them. Together they went to the movies, to dances (which they both loved very much), walked in the charming Alytus city park, until one fine day they decided that enough dates were enough and that it was time to look at life a little more seriously. Soon they got married. But only my father’s friend (my mother’s younger brother) Jonas knew about this, since this union did not cause much delight on either my mother’s or my father’s side of the family... My mother’s parents predicted for her a rich neighbor-teacher, whom they really liked, as her groom and, in their opinion, he “suited” his mother perfectly, and in his father’s family at that time there was no time for marriage, since grandfather was sent to prison at that time as an “accomplice of the nobles” (by which, they probably tried to “break” the stubbornly resisting dad), and my grandmother ended up in the hospital from a nervous shock and was very sick. Dad was left with his little brother in his arms and now had to run the entire household alone, which was very difficult, since the Seryogins at that time lived in a large two-story house (in which I later lived), with a huge old garden around. And, naturally, such a farm required good care...
So three long months passed, and my dad and mom, already married, were still going on dates, until my mom accidentally went to my dad’s house one day and found a very touching picture there... Dad stood in the kitchen in front of the stove, looking unhappy “replenishing” the hopelessly growing number of pots of semolina porridge, which at that moment he was cooking for his little brother. But for some reason the “evil” porridge became more and more, and poor dad could not understand what was happening... Mom, trying with all her might to hide a smile so as not to offend the unlucky “cook,” rolled up her sleeves right away began to put this whole “stagnant household mess” in order, starting with the completely occupied, “porridge-filled” pots, the indignantly sizzling stove... Of course, after such an “emergency”, my mother could no longer calmly observe such a “heart-tugging” male helplessness, and decided to immediately move to this territory, which was still completely foreign and unfamiliar to her... And although it was not very easy for her at that time either - she worked at the post office (to support herself), and in the evenings she went to preparatory classes classes for medical school exams.

She, without hesitation, gave all her remaining strength to her exhausted young husband and his family. The house immediately came to life. The kitchen smelled overwhelmingly of delicious Lithuanian zeppelins, which my dad’s little brother adored and, just like dad, who had been sitting on dry food for a long time, he literally gorged himself on them to the “unreasonable” limit. Everything became more or less normal, except for the absence of my grandparents, about whom my poor dad was very worried, and sincerely missed them all this time. But now he already had a young, beautiful wife, who, as best she could, tried in every possible way to brighten up his temporary loss, and looking at my father’s smiling face, it was clear that she succeeded quite well. Dad’s little brother very soon got used to his new aunt and followed her tail, hoping to get something tasty or at least a beautiful “evening fairy tale”, which his mother read to him in great abundance before bed.
Days and then weeks passed so calmly in everyday worries. Grandmother, by that time, had already returned from the hospital and, to her great surprise, found her newly-made daughter-in-law at home... And since it was too late to change anything, they simply tried to get to know each other better, avoiding unwanted conflicts (which inevitably appear with any new, too close acquaintance). More precisely, they were simply getting used to each other, trying to honestly avoid any possible “underwater reefs”... I was always sincerely sorry that my mother and grandmother never fell in love with each other... They were both (or rather, my mother still are) wonderful people, and I loved them both very much. But if my grandmother, throughout our entire life together, somehow tried to adapt to my mother, then my mother, on the contrary, at the end of my grandmother’s life, sometimes too openly showed her her irritation, which deeply hurt me, since I was very attached to both of them and very I didn’t like to fall, as they say, “between two fires” or to forcibly take someone’s side. I could never understand what caused this constant “quiet” war between these two wonderful women, but apparently there were some very good reasons for this, or perhaps my poor mother and grandmother were simply truly “incompatible” , as happens quite often with strangers living together. One way or another, it was a great pity, because, in general, it was a very friendly and faithful family, in which everyone stood up for each other and went through every trouble or misfortune together.
But let's go back to those days when all this was just beginning, and when each member of this new family honestly tried to “live together”, without creating any trouble for the others... Grandfather was already at home, but his health, to the great regret of everyone else , after the days spent in custody, it deteriorated sharply. Apparently, including the difficult days spent in Siberia, all the long ordeals of the Seryogins in unfamiliar cities did not spare the poor, life-torn grandfather’s heart - he began to have recurring micro-infarctions...
Mom became very friendly with him and tried as best she could to help him forget all the bad things as soon as possible, although she herself had a very, very difficult time. Over the past months, she managed to pass the preparatory and entrance exams for medical school. But, to her great regret, her long-time dream was not destined to come true for the simple reason that at that time in Lithuania she still had to pay for the institute, and her mother’s family (which had nine children) did not have enough finances for this.. In the same year, her still very young mother, my grandmother on my mother’s side, whom I also never saw, died from a severe nervous shock that happened several years ago. She fell ill during the war, on the day when she learned that there was a heavy bombing in the pioneer camp, in the seaside town of Palanga, and all the surviving children were taken to an unknown location... And among these children was her son , the youngest and favorite of all nine children. A few years later he returned, but, unfortunately, this could no longer help my grandmother. And in the first year of my mother’s and father’s life together, it slowly faded away... My mother’s father – my grandfather – was left with a large family, of which only one of my mother’s sisters – Domitsela – was married at that time.

The Ural motorcycle racer brought home the gold of the Ice Speedway World Championship. Dmitry Khomitsevich has been passionate about this extreme sport all his adult life and is now training the younger generation of racers.

The bikes growl like wild animals, cutting the ice with sharp, claw-like spikes. Speed limit. The audience rejoices. This is another triumph for Russian motorcycle racers at the Ice Speedway World Championship. The competition took place in Germany. The champion team includes Sverdlovsk resident Dmitry Khomitsevich.

This is his seventh world championship gold medal. A few hours ago he flew home from Inzell, Germany, to Kamensk-Uralsky. And now he’s already in the gym, preparing for the final stages of the Ice Speedway World Championship.

Dmitry Khomitsevich, seven-time world champion in ice speedway, international master of sports: “I slept for two or three hours, so I came to work out a little. You always try to support yourself, I also love running, because it trains both my heart and my breathing.”

Dmitry first went to the ice track at the age of eight, following his father Valery, a master of sports, and his older brother Vitaly, a six-time world champion. So his love for two-wheeled extreme sports is at the genetic level, the motorcycle racer jokes.

Dmitry Khomitsevich, seven-time world champion in ice speedway, international master of sports: “My father has also been involved here since a young age. He brought me from kindergarten here to school. We twisted nuts, ran, dabbled, and from this it came that I was drawn to motorcycle sports, engines, nuts, bolts.”

There is a wall of fame in the garage of the local sports school. There are hundreds of medals and cups here - all the awards of the Khomitsevich brothers and their father. Gold wealth accumulated for more than half a century. The same goes for motorcycle sports in Kamensk-Uralsky and, in particular, ice speedway. Speedway is otherwise called a race without brakes - all because the bikes simply don’t have them. At the same time, the motorcycle reaches speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. In order not to crash, the rider maneuvers his body, releases the gas, and these 28-mm spikes also help - they literally bite into the ice.

Today, almost 200 children are learning the basics of motorcycle extreme sports at the Kamensk-Uralsky sports school. Among the young racers is Dmitry Khomitsevich’s son Maxim. Just like his father once did, right after kindergarten the boy runs to the garage to his spiked bike. Maxim first felt the roar of a motor at three and a half years old - immediately after mastering a two-wheeled bicycle. A year ago, a boy seriously injured his hip during training, but the injury did not break the young racer’s sporting spirit: “Well, I like to do motocross.”

In two weeks, Dmitry will go to Holland for another, hopefully, gold medal at the World Championships. But his main victory, the racer believes, is here in the Urals. This is the son Maxim, who has already added to the family’s collection of awards with bronze in the regional motocross cup.
