Dribbling training in hockey. What is dribbling? Examples of dribbling in sports Dribbling in hockey - teaching the peculiarities of puck possession

Dribbling in hockey is the art of dribbling the puck, bypassing opponents and the goal, the ability to hold the puck and not give it to opponents.

A prerequisite for professional dribbling is to hold the puck without violating the rules of the game. There are no special conditions for this in hockey, as, for example, in basketball, but this does not mean that attention should not be paid to dribbling. This word was first used for football, but hockey also has nuances that every professional hockey player should know.

Dribbling in hockey - learning the peculiarities of puck possession

First of all, dribbling is an unexpected maneuver, changing the direction of movement and deceptive movements, in which control over the puck is not lost.

Hockey is a team sport, but often the player is left alone with the opposing goalkeeper, and the outcome of the game sometimes depends on how well he has mastered the dribbling technique. The art of dribbling is learned from the first training, but even after becoming a professional, a hockey player constantly improves his technique of handling the puck.

Dribbling Exercises – Hockey

There are several techniques for holding the puck and many exercises for practicing dribbling skills.

Hockey players practice:

  • Smoothly dribbling the puck is the first and main stage of dribbling training, which begins immediately after the student masters skates.
  • High-speed maneuvers are the second stage of mastering dribbling, which is very important for amateurs and professionals. On a small site, speed is critical.
  • Dribbling with slashing movements - dribbling the puck with short, slashing movements that are very convenient during an attack.
  • Dribbling with a stick and skates significantly increases the chances of breaking through with the puck to the opponent’s goal and can only be done by experienced hockey players.

Includes drills to help you learn different dribbling techniques. For example, the training program includes learning to imitate throws and passes. To do this, the player learns to swing the stick and at the same time control the opponent’s reaction in order to make the right decision in a split second. Another exercise is performed to develop the ability to sharply change speed, accelerate and stop.

Over time, professional hockey players develop their own technique, supplementing it with independently invented techniques. Dribbling requires constant honing of skills and requires maximum effort from a hockey player in training and play.

In this lesson we will look at what kind of feints there are in hockey.

The very first and simplest feint is to go around the player through a false movement. That is, to show that we go in one direction, then change direction and go in the other. Be sure to point your shoulders to your opponent in the wrong direction. If you simply change direction, your opponent may not believe your maneuver. And you need to do this element in close proximity to your opponent, so that your opponent does not have time to react to the change in movement.

The second feint is to let it go under the stick. We move the puck to the side and sit on our near leg. And you need to wait until the opponent also sits on the near leg. Then we let the puck under his stick and suddenly change direction. We move the stick over the opponent’s stick, due to the fact that our lower hand moves along the stick. Not carrying the club near your head is a grave mistake.

The third feint - we put it under ourselves. You need to stand on the side of the hand that is below. Push the puck away from you and then pull it towards you with the end of the hook, while pushing with one foot in the opposite direction. After we have pulled the puck towards us, we throw it to the other side. To the side where we just pushed. And we leave the opponent.

The fourth trick is to throw the puck with one hand. We show the opponent that we will go to the side where the leading hand is, and take the club in one hand. And we push the puck behind the opponent, going around him on the other side. To perform this element you need good speed. Don't do it on the spot.

Fifth trick – we throw the puck between the legs. We move the puck as far back as possible. Using the end of the hook, push the puck into the opposite skate. The puck should bounce off your skate directly onto your stick. A very beautiful and effective feint.

The sixth trick is a 360 turn with the puck between the legs. Used to abruptly change the direction of movement. You need to make a sharp snail and roll the puck between your legs. The main point is that you need to roll the puck so much that when you turn it, it is already on your hook.

The seventh trick is a 360 turn. Everything is the same as in the previous trick, only this time we don’t throw the puck between the legs.

The eighth feint - we beat the player through a pass. We get closer to the opponent and pass to a free partner, after which we take several explosive steps and open up onto the free ice. At this moment, receiving a reverse pass.

The ninth feint - we beat it at the expense of the side. In front of the opponent, we send the puck into the boards and go around him on the other side. The main thing is to correctly calculate the angle of reflection from the side. To receive the puck in an advantageous position.

It was a lesson in feints in hockey. . Have a great day everyone!

Hockey dribbling simulators have become part of the everyday life of athletes and just people trying to stay in good physical shape. We will talk about what they are, what benefits they provide in training, how to use them correctly and much more.

They are ideal for hockey athletes because they provide the opportunity to develop several very important skills for a professional:

  • dribble and pass accurately;
  • make movements with the aim of deceiving an opponent;
  • be able to maneuver on the field;
  • control and accurately move the puck;
  • In addition, it develops hand motor skills;
  • trains the hand, which contributes to the accuracy of the pass and hitting the intended target.

But all these qualities are necessary not only for athletes; a dribbling simulator will be a useful and exciting sports equipment for teenagers. After all, it develops not only the skills of the physical body, but also forms a real “sports character”. And for adults, taking into account the current physical inactivity, it is also simply necessary.

What is dribbling

In sports, this term refers to the art of dribbling a ball or puck towards the opponents' goal without it getting to the players of the other team. A prerequisite is not to break the rules of the game. Moreover, in every sport there are strict regulations for handling the ball or puck.

The English word Dribble translated into Russian means “to dribble the ball.” The term was first used in football, and it is in this sport that there are interesting nuances of dribbling. This is, first of all, a maneuver that the opponent does not expect at the moment. The player abruptly changes the direction of the ball's flight, makes deceptive movements, but does not lose control over it.

In hockey, the term has the same meaning, only the dribbling techniques are different. Both hockey and football are team sports, but opponents are often left one on one, and this is where hockey players need to be able to quickly move the puck and make deft and unexpected maneuvers. The art of dribbling is taught by both experienced professional players and students of children's sports schools.

Let's look at existing dribbling techniques. They begin to teach the future hockey player as soon as he masters the ability to stay firmly on the ice. At the first stage of training, the student trains in smoothly dribbling the puck; having mastered it, he moves on to the next stage - performing maneuvers at high speed. Speed is what is needed to successfully dribble.

Technicians

  • Dribbling using chopping movements with a stick. One of the first techniques mastered by hockey players. To perform it, you need to quickly move along the ice with the puck, which the player moves in front of him with very short and chopping movements.
  • Dribbling with skates and stick. Only an experienced player can perform such a maneuver. The puck must be passed very accurately from skate to stick and then back to skate. In the heat of sports, sometimes a hockey player loses his stick; with this type of dribbling, there is a chance to break through to the goal, dribbling the puck with only one skate.
  • Technique for simulating passing and throwing. There are also such techniques. After receiving the puck, the player must simulate a swing with his stick as if he were about to pass the puck to a teammate. In this case, you need to control your opponent’s reaction. Having seen that he reacted and believed the maneuver, you immediately need to go in the opposite direction, taking the puck with you. This technique is effective at high speed.
  • Sudden change in direction and speed. A very convenient dribbling technique if there is a need to escape the pressure of a player on the opposing team.

The higher a hockey player's skill and experience, the more varied techniques he uses, often developing his own dribbling techniques. These types of games require constant honing of skills. And you can improve your art not only in the stadium and on the ice; special dribbling simulators have been developed for this.

They are a great find for both athletes and sports fans, as they allow you to:

  • train even at home;
  • in any season;
  • without partners;
  • it is possible to use a minimum area for play;
  • game situations are the same as in real hockey.

What is a simulator

There are different models of this type of simulator, but, as a rule, it is a sliding surface measuring one and a half by three meters.

Standard kit contents:

  • artificial ice (its area is 1.5 by 3 meters);
  • console with puck return function;
  • a puck designed specifically for playing on synthetic surfaces;
  • a set of chips for training maneuverability and dribbling of an opponent.

Often players prefer sets where synthetic ice is equipped with an anti-noise backing; after all, it is advisable not to make too much noise in houses. As an addition, many versions of the simulators include two pairs of shoe covers, a bag for carrying equipment, and a disk with educational video material.

Why are they convenient?

  • they are convenient to store since the simulators are compact;
  • the surface is created with the same degree of slip as ice in sports stadiums;
  • The coating material is reliable, it is resistant to damage and chips.

The service life of the simulators is quite long. As a rule, they are five to seven years.

But for this you need to follow the following rules:

  • place the sports equipment only on a flat surface and only horizontally;
  • do not forget to wipe it regularly with a damp cloth;
  • Once a month, treat the artificial turf with a special spray to improve its sliding properties.

What else can you use the simulator for?

  • to improve sliding skills;
  • throwing skills training;
  • passing the puck;
  • development of maneuverability

The cost of simulators depends on the number of items included in the kit and their quality, for example, the thickness of the coating is not the same from different manufacturers. Of course, the thicker the coating, the better and more expensive the simulator. The price is affected by the size of this type of sports equipment.

Approximate price range: from 2500 to 8500 rubles.

Varieties

Various simulators are used to teach the art of playing hockey. They can be divided into three large groups, depending on their purpose: for field players, for goalkeepers, and the simplest ones - for developing skating skills.

Let's look at a few examples of the most popular hockey simulators:

Where can I buy

Hockey players and sports fans have access to numerous online stores where they can purchase a training device according to their needs and financial capabilities. Objective information about the features of exercise equipment from various manufacturers can be found on forums for buyers of sports equipment in online stores.

In sports, technique and the use of different tricks are of great importance to achieve good results. It is worth understanding what dribbling is and why it is needed in football, hockey and basketball. Anyone can learn such feints, the main thing is to work hard.

Dribbling in football

An important element of technique in football, which involves attempting to beat an opponent while moving while keeping the ball, is called dribbling. For him, the technical and physical abilities of an athlete are important: flexibility, agility, cunning and the ability to quickly change speed and direction of movement. Attacking players must have a lot of maneuvers in their arsenal to get past defenders and get to the goal.

If you are interested in how to improve dribbling in football, then you should know that mastering such a technique well is not easy, and regular training is needed. Beginner football players spend hours running with the ball, dribbling it with one foot or the other, to learn how to feel it well. In addition, the level of technique increases when the athlete circles various obstacles, for example, chips installed at an equal distance.

Dribbling in hockey

For hockey athletes, dribbling is as important as for football players. This technique is especially important when the game is being played near the opponent's goal and there is a chance to score the puck by deceiving the goalkeeper. Dribbling training includes smooth dribbling of the puck, high-speed maneuvers and slashing movements of the stick around the puck, dribbling with skates and a stick. Athletes who have been playing hockey for a long time have in their arsenal more than one trick and dribbling style, which becomes their calling card. There are special hockey simulators for dribbling.

Dribbling in basketball

To throw the ball into the hoop, a basketball player must not only be able to pass it correctly, but also know the basic dribbling techniques, since thanks to them the athlete has the opportunity to control the ball for a long time and move towards the hoop. Basketball dribbling training includes mastering the following techniques:

  1. Dribbling the ball at high speed, and it must hit the floor with force in order to bounce high.
  2. A low dribble in which the ball is protected by the body, for which the basketball player bends his knees. Hitting the ball with this type of dribble is weak.
  3. Combined dribbling involves throwing the ball, and it should be carried out between the legs or behind the back. When figuring out what dribbling is, it is worth pointing out that this technique is used to move the ball away from an opponent or to perform a pivot (during a strike, a revolution is made around its axis).

It is worth paying attention to such a useful accessory as dribbling glasses, which were invented for basketball, but then began to be used by hockey players and football players. The design is very simple: the plastic frame is adjustable with an elastic strap, and there is a curtain at the bottom of the glasses. This accessory sits tightly on the head and does not fall off with sudden movements. The secret of the glasses lies in the closed bottom part, which blocks the player's lower view, and this forces the eye to focus not on the ball, but on what is happening around.

Best Dribbling

It’s worth saying right away that the choice of the best athletes in dribbling is subjective, since often tricks do not develop into real attempts to score a goal. The best dribbling of football players is observed in the following athletes:

  1. Neymar(Barcelona) according to statistics, the number of dribbles is constantly growing and reaches an average of 5.3 per match.
  2. Messi(Barcelona) has over 400 successful dribbles in three seasons and a dribbling score of 4+ per match.
  3. Eden Hazard(Chelsea) has excellent technical skills and takes 4.6 successful dribbles per game.
  4. Hatem Ben Arfa(PSG) has good statistics, so the athlete makes 4.38 successful dribbles per game.

Dribbling Messi

One of the most famous and expensive football players is Messi, who is famous for his unusual technique and instant explosive speed. The dribbling ability of football players from other teams is significantly inferior to this player, who is able to bypass many opponents at great speed and from the outside it seems as if the ball is glued to his foot. The main trick of Lionel Messi is that when turning, he makes a movement left and right, which disorients his opponents.

Dribbling Ronaldo

Another football star whose game amazes with numerous features. Cristiano Ronaldo's dribbling is considered more down to earth than Messi's, but he has his own tricks. The most popular feint that a football player uses in every game is called “step over” - this is stepping over the ball alternately with two feet. It is worth noting that such actions force the enemy to break the rules and, according to statistics, Ronaldo earned more than one penalty and many free throws thanks to the “step over”.

Dribbling Arbeloa

The Spanish football player is in the position of a defender and dribbling is not an important feature for him. A joke appeared on the Internet that the best dribbling in football was shown by Arbeloa in the game “Barcelona - Real Madrid” and the commentator Utkin was to blame for it, who joked after the player, wanting to take the ball, simply fell on the field. In the summer of 2017, the player announced that he was ending his career.

Dribbling Stephen Curry

The American professional basketball player, who plays for the Golden State Warriors and the US national team, has more than one trick in his arsenal. He is also famous for his dribbling, which he trains regularly. Many experts note excellent footwork, because a basketball player can quickly change direction of movement, dribbling past opponents. Curry's best dribbling involves low dribbling, cross-leg dribbling and various turns.

Neymar dribbling

The young football player shows an excellent game, so experts believe that he has every chance of becoming the best, eclipsing today's stars. Neymar's dribbling in Barcelona is very technical and is often compared to circus tricks. Many journalists write that Neymar does not play, but dances with the ball, putting artistry into every trick. The Brazilian footballer is famous for his acceleration, quick work with the ball with both feet and enormous running speed.

How to learn dribbling?

There are many dribbling techniques and techniques that involve both feet. You can master them on your own, but you will have to train for more than one day. Dribbling training includes:

  1. You need to learn to touch the ball softly. Keep in mind that the more often the touch occurs, the better the movement will be controlled. In the first stages of training this will lead to a slowdown, but for mastering the technique it is very important.
  2. Learn to hold the ball near your feet by rolling it between the insides of your feet with your knees slightly bent. To quickly change direction during play, you need to position your body between the ball and the defender.
  3. Describing what the word “dribbling” is and how to learn it, it is worth mentioning a common technique – lifting the foot. When dribbling the ball, you need to roll it with the outer instep of your foot. Advancement along the field should be carried out at a gallop, which will allow you to constantly keep the ball near your feet. The feet should be pointing toes forward. Please note that this technique is not suitable for running when the speed and direction of movement changes.
  4. Many people, when practicing dribbling, make the mistake of concentrating on the ball, missing the surrounding environment. You need to learn to watch the ball only with the lower periphery of your vision.
  5. Learn to change the speed of your movement while moving across the field, otherwise the defenders will quickly take the ball away.
  6. Another dribbling trick is to cover the ball with your body to keep your opponent at a safe distance. The ball should be dribbled with the foot farthest from the defender.
  7. When figuring out what the term “dribbling” is, you cannot lose sight of high-speed technique. The goal is to move quickly around the field while maintaining control of the ball. To do this, bend your feet slightly at the ankles, bending your toes toward the ground. The ball should be touched with the outside of the instep of the foot in the area of the middle toe. The touch is made in 5-8 steps. While touching, you need to maintain the pace of movement.
  8. To practice dribbling, you use chips around which you can dribble the ball with one foot. There should be a distance of approximately 1 m between the chips. Move in a snake and circle the ball with one foot, working both sides of the instep and the inside.
