What kind of skis does fourcade have? Martin Fourcade won the pursuit race in Holmenkollen. Successful career in sports

Frenchman Martin Fourcade won the pursuit race at the Biathlon World Cup in Holmenkollen with two penalties.

Finishing second was the Italian Lukas Hofer, who started fifth and made one mistake; the Norwegian Johannes Boe was third, with four mistakes, dropping one place compared to the start.

Maxim Tsvetkov moved up from 28th place to fourth: he was the only one who shot clean today^

“Today it was very important for me to cope psychologically with the shooting. After the sprint I was internally unhappy with myself. I shot prone for a long time and made some offensive mistakes. Today I just decided that I needed to prove to myself that I’m ready to shoot, I can do it. “I was getting ready to shoot,” he said.

As the distance progressed, I already realized that I was very lucky with my skis. I felt quite free while walking. I followed the athletes and felt comfortable. I understood that today I have the strength to fight.

It’s difficult to talk about the relay race. It can be hard to escape after an emotional outburst. Let's see what stage the coaches put me at. I don't think this will be the fourth stage. In any case, we will fight!”

IBU Anton Shipulin, who started from 18th place, was seventh with one penalty. Until the last shot, Anton was vying for the prize, but, unfortunately, he was unable to cope with this shot.

During the Olympic season, communication with the press is limited. It is almost impossible to get an exclusive interview with him. He talks to foreign media only in the mixed zone and for only a couple of minutes. However, after his victorious performance in the sprint in Oberhof, he decided to make an exception for the Championship special correspondent and spoke about his preparation for the Olympics and his rivalry with Johannes Boe. The only request from the Frenchman was not to talk about politics and keep it to a five-minute format.

The Olympics are closer, but the results are worse. The Russians didn't even make it to the top 20

The results of the first men's race of 2018 are depressing: the Russians did not reach the top 20. And Svendsen returned after illness and fought with Fourcade.

Today you were one of the few athletes who shot clean. Do you know Oberhof so well that you have found the key to it?
“I initially tuned my shooting very carefully. I spent a lot of time shooting prone because I needed to wait out the wind. I shot slowly, but I did it consciously so as not to make a mistake like Johannes. In the “stand” I understood that I couldn’t hesitate, so I shot in an attacking style.

- Johannes ended up on the podium with two penalties. Are you afraid of its speed?
- No. Today I wasn't as fast because we chose the wrong skis. I was slower than Johannes, but if we really compare our readiness, the difference is not so great. If you look at the analysis of the race for all sections, you will understand that on the climbs I even won a little over him, but on the descents I lost too much because of my skis. Too much depended on skis in this race.

- Is it difficult to choose the right skis in this weather?
- Yes. But I didn't choose skis. My servicer did this, and he was wrong. But this happens, and we must treat it with understanding. I believe that tomorrow he will draw conclusions and offer me the best choice of skis. Johannes was perfect with his skis today, but he won't have that advantage in pursuit.

- Have you already thought about what will happen after the Olympics? Will you be competing next season?
- No, I haven’t decided yet whether I will continue my career.

- But your father said that you will still perform at Beijing 2022.

- I read this interview, but this is just his opinion. I did not tell my father anything about my plans and did not ask him to make such comments. I understand that he wants me to continue doing biathlon, like many of my fans, but I myself have not yet made a decision and will not make it until the end of the Olympic Games. Now I am completely focused on competitions in Korea.

Has it become more interesting for you to compete this season when Johannes is performing at the same level and giving you serious competition?
- It really became much more difficult for me. But you know that last season I was stronger than ever. I had the best season of my life, and after that it was difficult to maintain the same level. I've had a lot of wins and podiums in almost every race, but now I'm accepting the challenge from Johannes. Many people have been waiting for this, and for them it is a holiday. But I'm still in great shape and this challenge doesn't give me anything new. I'm completely ready for it.

Biathlon, World Cup. Men's sprint. No chance of medals. How it was

All events on January 5 at the 4th stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof. News, interesting facts, features of the day, photos and videos - in our chronicle.

Ten years ago, biathlon was so dominated by Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, and many fans supported anyone but him. Do you feel that most fans want your opponents to win?
- Certainly. I understand this with understanding. But at the same time, I feel supported by my fans, especially during the World Cup in Le Grand Bornand. I try to reciprocate and please them with my victories for the support they give me. In Le Grand Bornand, the fans, on the contrary, did not support my opponents and only supported me.

- If your brother doesn’t qualify for the Olympics, will you miss him?
- I don’t want to think about it yet. It seems to me that everything is still in Simon’s hands, and he will have a chance to prove himself and achieve a place on the Olympic team with his results.

Fourcade Martin is one of the best French biathletes. Champion of the 2014 Olympic Games. Martin is the younger brother of the equally gifted biathlete Simon Fourcade.

Carier start

Initially, the parents sent the two brothers to the hockey section, but since it was far from home, they were not always able to take the children there. Therefore, Simon and Martin were transferred to the section. Over time, the brothers got tired of just running, and they “threw their rifles over their backs.”

Martin Fourcade (see photo below) came to the sport very successfully. The beginning of his activities coincided with the end of the career of Raphael Poiret, the legendary biathlete, who decided to leave skiing and take up coaching. In many of his interviews, Martin stated that Poiret is his idol.

During the first two years, Fourcade did not stand out as anything special. He always managed to get into the scoring zone, but there were no victories or medals. It’s not for nothing that they say that biathlon is considered an “adult” sport. The achievements of the Norwegian Bjoerndalen at the last Olympics only confirm this.

Season 2009-2010

Fourcade Martin became famous in 2010 when he won silver in the mass start at the Olympic Games. After that, he won three World Cup competitions. Once in Kontiolahti and twice in Oslo. This allowed him to take fifth place in the overall standings. His brother became the seventh.

Season 2010-2011

It was a successful season for Fourcade. He started with three top-5 finishes in Östersund. Then he took 2nd place in Ruhpolding in all three races. And winning the mass start in Fort Kent and Antholz allowed him to arrive at the World Championships as a clear favorite.

Thanks to Martin's high speed and accuracy, the French team took 3rd place in the mixed relay. Fourcade himself got gold in the sprint and gold in the pursuit (despite three misses). At the end of the season, the biathlete took 3rd place in the overall World Cup standings.

Season 2011-2012

Before the start of the season, Fourcade Martin set himself a clear goal - to take 1st or 2nd place in the standings. He began to implement this task immediately, at the first stage, winning the pursuit and individual race. Even before the end of the season, it became clear that the athlete would take 1st place in the overall World Cup standings. In addition, Martin received Small Crystal Globes in the pursuit and sprint.

Season 2012-2013

It was opened by the victory of the Frenchman in the Swedish Östersund (individual race). In the sprint, everything was not so successful - only 10th place. But then Fourcade was able to win the pursuit race. Subsequent stages were not very successful: the Frenchman did not take first places. The reason for this was the shoulder injury he received in Oberhof.

Svendsen's absence during the pre-Olympic week in Sochi allowed Marten to win two of the two races held. In the 20-kilometer individual competition, Fourcade missed only once, eliminating the 60-second gap from the leader, Binbacher. As a result, Martin's advantage at the finish was 7 seconds. In the 10-kilometer sprint competition, the Frenchman did not make a single mistake and confidently took first place, beating the silver medalist by 40 seconds.

The last stage of the World Cup, held in Khanty-Mansiysk, became triumphant for the Frenchman. Fourcade won the sprint race without making a single mistake. He was unable to achieve similar success in pursuit. Martin missed at every turn, making 5 mistakes.

Despite a number of failures, at the end of 2013, Fourcade still overtook his main rival Svendsen by 421 points, thereby breaking the record for the number of points scored in a season. The biathlete also won Crystal Globes in all types of races.

2014 Olympics

On February 8, Martin Fourcade, whose photo is attached to the article, took part in the sprint race. Unfortunately, he missed in the prone position. As a result, the athlete had to settle for 5th place.

On February 10, he took part in the pursuit race, where he had no equal. The biathlete missed only once. In addition, Martin Fourcade's technique was impeccable. It's no surprise that he came first.

On February 13, Martin competed in the individual race at the Laura complex. And again the athlete has one miss and a second gold. The 2nd place was then taken by the German Erich Lesser, and the 3rd place by the Russian Evgeniy Garanichev.

All biathlon fans were expecting a fierce fight between Svendsen and Fourcade. And it took place on February 18 at the mass start. The duel was very exciting. The judges had to view the photo finish to determine the winner. This was Swensen's 4th Olympic victory.

The 4x7.5 km relay completed the Olympic biathlon. Martin Fourcade, although he ran at the last stage, could not help the French team in any way. As a result, she did not make it to the podium.

Character and views

  • Marten's main advantage is reliability, and his main disadvantage is egocentrism. He is trying in every possible way to eradicate it.
  • What he fears most in life is the death of loved ones.
  • The most necessary item for a biathlete is a telephone.
  • Doesn't like gifts.
  • Wants to change his hair.
  • Has only one true friend.
  • Happiness for him is doing what he loves and being with loved ones more often.

When asked by journalists what he will do after finishing his career, Fourcade Martin usually answers that it is too early to think about it. But, most likely, he will either remain in the sport, or will “live in a beautiful castle with a princess happily ever after, and, of course, have many children with her.”

In general terms, this is his entire biography. Martin Fourcade is currently one of the most famous and popular biathletes in the world.
