The World Cup race schedule is known long before the start of the season. This was done so that coaches could prepare their athletes on time. Although, as a rule, all athletes get into the right shape at different times.

There are significant changes to the calendar for the 2018/2019 season. In all disciplines, teams are represented by both men and women.
Each stage consists of 6 races (in rare cases, 7 if there is a mixed relay).
The most common type of race is the sprint - a short race of 3 laps, based on the results of which biathletes start in the next one - the Pursuit Race.
Otherwise it is called Pursuit. The 60 best athletes based on the results of the sprint enter this race, and they start in the same way as they finished in the sprint, including lags. The race consists of 5 laps.
The individual race is perhaps the most boring and most unpredictable of all. In this discipline, if a biathlete misses the target, he is not sent to the penalty loop. A one-minute penalty is simply added to his finishing time. And four firing lines make this race unpredictable. In this race, even an average athlete (not from the top 30) can get on the podium if he shoots clean.
